How To Go From Worrier To Warrior

We all get it, that sense of dread. As we start to take a mental inventory of all of the things that can go wrong, we sink deeper into the sea of worry. One of my favorite sayings is that worrying is a wish for something bad to happen. The worry is us thinking about the coulds and mights of life. Eventually, we may find ourselves in a constant state of worry.

Good news, I’m sharing four ways we can move from worrier to warrior. At first, you have to make a conscious decision every time to shift your mindset. However, eventually, this will begin to happen automatically. In this video I talked about the morning I was jolted awake by anxious feeling. Once I examined the source of it, I realized I had made a major mistake and only had two hours to fix it or my team and our client would be really upset.

Sometimes, the worry is the subconscious trying to push information to the surface. But if we don’t take a beat to examine the source, we will only compound the impact. If you don’t have time to watch the video, allow me to give you a brief summary of how to go from worrier to warrior.

  1. Understand the source of your worry or anxiety, don’t just push it down.
  2. Separate fact from fiction. Don’t allow your emotions to become your reality. Isolate the facts and then address them.
  3. Make a plan. Understand your options and execute on those things within your control. For those things that are outside of your control, make a decision tree. Then write it down to begin to quiet the worry.
  4. Work the plan. Making progress, no matter how small, is always better than standing still. Plus, taking action is the epitome of the warrior spirit.
